What was in those baskets on December 3rd?

4 12 2011

I quickly left bountiful baskets this week and headed out of town for the afternoon/evening so I didn’t get a picture of my wonderful basket this week. So don’t mind the old picture of a basket that might not have exactly what we got this week.

This week we got butter lettuce, cucumbers, onions, tomatoes, kiwi, oranges, apples, blackberries, pineapple, broccoli, bell peppers, and pears. If you got the Mexican pack add on you got tomatillos, cilantro, avocado, grey squash, onions, lime, sweet peppers, jalapenos, and garlic.

If you family doesn’t eat apples as fast as you get them like mine sometimes does try making Baked Apple Crisps with them. As soon as I made them the disappeared quickly. For a great dinner give Pan Fried Pork Chops with Glazed Apples.

This week I am planning on using my broccoli to make Chicken and Broccoli Stir Fry with Peanut Sauce. Very quick and delicious. My family also loves Broccoli with Cashews as a side dish.

To use up your lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, and bell pepper try making Greek Chicken Wraps, Greek Salad, or Taco Salad. The butter lettuce would also be great for making Lettuce Wraps.

We will defiantly be making Enchiladas Verdes with our tomatillos from our Mexican pack. It is one of our favorite things to make with the Mexican pack. Chipotle Shredded Pork Enchiladas is also a great recipe to use your Mexican pack for.

Check out my Recipe Index for more recipe ideas or click on any of the tags on the left hand side to help you find ideas for some of the things that came in your basket. Let me know what you are planning on cooking with your basket this week. Hope everyone has a great week!

Your basket was a bit different than ours, but looks great! The lettuce wraps sound tempting! We’ve been getting more pears than we can handle lately, so we dehydrated some last night and my kids gobbled them all up in a heartbeat this morning. We love Bountiful Baskets! One way or another, we get through the produce.

We tried the Broccoli and Cashews when you posted a link once before. So yummy!
